Four decades of project leadership in America's most demanding construction markets

The Principal

Martin Kribs — Principal, Martin Kribs Interiors + Grounds

Martin Kribs has spent forty years leading design and construction in Aspen, Colorado and Jackson Hole, Wyoming — two of the most demanding residential markets in the country. These aren't places where you hand off projects and hope. The clients expect the principal in the room. The architects expect a builder who understands design intent. The conditions — altitude, climate, remote logistics — demand systems thinking and disciplined project leadership.

Over four decades, Martin has led everything from ground-up custom homes to major resort properties, managing each phase from conception and design leadership through construction administration and completion. He's also run the business side — marketing, sales operations, financial forecasting — for design-build enterprises. That breadth means he doesn't just understand how to build well; he understands how to run a project well, keep it on budget, and communicate clearly throughout.

What forty years in resort markets teaches you isn't a style. It's a standard. You learn what materials endure and which ones just photograph well. You develop an eye for proportion and spatial relationships that only comes from decades of immersion in communities where mediocrity isn't tolerated. And you learn, project after project, that when the owner or principal stays engaged, the outcome is fundamentally better.

Martin brought that accumulated judgment to Oregon's Willamette Valley, founding Martin Kribs Interiors + Grounds to serve homeowners and architects who want principal-level involvement on their projects — whether that's full design-build leadership, pre-construction consulting, or Owner's Representative services on architect-led work. The entry point varies. The standard doesn't.

How We Work

Principal-Led, Every Project

Martin personally leads every engagement — whether it's a design-build commission, a pre-construction package, or an Owner's Rep assignment. You're not handed off to a project manager interpreting someone else's notes. The person who developed the vision and built the budget is the same person on your jobsite ensuring execution meets intent. That continuity is what makes the difference.

Integrated Interiors + Grounds

Most firms specialize in either interior remodeling or landscape contracting. That creates dissonance — your kitchen flows into a backyard that wasn't designed with the same care. This firm does both. Every project receives a unified vision that extends from interior spaces through the landscape, with color, material, proportion, and functionality all coordinated under one leadership.

Transparent Pricing

We use an open-book, cost-plus model built on AIA standard documents. Every cost is visible — every subcontractor invoice, every material delivery, and the principal's project management time as a clear line item. No hidden markups. No adversarial change orders. This isn't just a contract preference; it's a communication system that keeps you informed throughout the project.

Before construction begins, we develop a detailed Control Estimate — a cost projection broken down by phase and trade. This becomes the benchmark that tracks your project through completion. Actual costs are reported monthly against the estimate. Savings benefit you. Unforeseen conditions are discussed and documented transparently before any additional investment is made.

This structure aligns our interests with yours. We succeed by managing the project well and communicating clearly — not by discovering surprise expenses or cutting corners. Whether we're leading your design-build project or serving as your Owner's Rep on an architect-led engagement, the financial discipline and transparency are the same.

Service Area

We serve the Willamette Valley corridor, including Corvallis, Philomath, Albany, Salem, and Eugene. We have particular expertise in the wine country communities of the Eola-Amity Hills and Dundee Hills, where many of our clients maintain rural properties alongside serious design aspirations.

If you're outside this region but interested in exploring a potential partnership, we're happy to discuss. The principles that guide our work—intentional design, transparent pricing, and construction excellence—aren't geographic.
